Could This Book Be Good, or is it Just My New Meds?
I'm going over the copy-edited manuscript of Love and Other Impossible Pursuits now, and I'm having this amazing sensation...I think it's...good! This has NEVER happened to me. Every other novel I've written I've hated so much by this stage that I've barely been able to read it (hence the horrible typos in all my books). But this one I'm actually sitting and reading aloud (to catch all aforementioned typos) and I'm sort of loving it. I'm getting all teary in the right places, I'm getting all steamy in the right places. I'm laughing in the right places.
Might this book actually not suck?

Well, not objectively awful. (Although I'm no Jane Austen. Or Michael Chabon, for that matter.) But way more awful than I think they should be.

That's great! (And by the way, no, I don't think your other books have sucked either, for what it's worth.)
I've read and enjoyed all of your mysteries and look forward to reading your novel.
Today while my six-year-old son was frying his brain (er, relaxing) in front of the Playstation 2 I plucked "Daughter's Keeper" out of my teetering TBR pile. I read it as he played, I propped it up on the counter so I could read it while making dinner and balanced it against a bowl of apples in the middle of the kitchen table in order to read while eating supper.
I ignored the six tapes waiting to be transcribed before the next batch arrives tomorrow, I set the DVR to record "Gilmore Girls" and "Judging Amy" and steadily read, unwilling to wait to find out what was going to happen to Olivia and Elaine and Izaya. And now that I've finished it I'm a little sad-because I've finished it.

You most certainly do not suck. I finally picked up a copy of "Daughter's Keeper" last week and devoured it in one sitting. I started reading around 4PM and read until I finished it around 10PM. I had to take breaks to change little girl's pull-ups and to throw something resembling dinner in a bowl for her, but other than that, my eyes were riveted to that book. I was really quite amazed at how much I could do while still reading your book! Apparently, I can run bath water, dress a toddler, clean up a toddler's room, feed her, pour milk, and get her to bed all while balancing a book!
From your writing here, I don't see how any of your books could suck, even marginally. Now suckitude, that's MY talent. My cat wrote book better than anything I coughed up...
Seriously, I love your writing style and want to read your books. Typos and all...

Although I don't think you can use fasting as a diet or weight loss program, I do feel that it can be a great start to a proper weight loss diet and exercise program. I think it is definitely something that everyone should do at least once a year.
